Why Sharing Fails

When you copy a video link from an active collection, it often includes a `&list=` parameter. While this works most of the time, if the collection is set to Private, anyone who clicks the link will just see an error screen.

Best Practices for Sharing

1. Always Set to Unlisted: If you don't want the general public finding your corporate training or private study materials, set the privacy to Unlisted. This ensures anyone with the exact link can view it, but it won't show up in search results.

2. Share the Root Link: Instead of sharing a link to the first video (which forces autoplay), share the root link. This looks like `youtube.com/playlist?list=...`. This lands the user on the overview page so they can see the entire curriculum before starting.

3. Use Shortlinks: Long URLs can break in emails. Use a URL shortener for massive links.

Avoiding the "Unavailable Video" Trap

If an item gets deleted by its original creator, it shows up as a grey box in your collection. Always have a backup! Consider exporting the metadata (titles and channel names) to a CSV using a playlist calculator tool. That way, if a video vanishes, you at least know what the title was so you can find a replacement.
