The Grey Box of Doom
We've all seen it: you open your favorite music mix or study guide, and several items have been replaced by a grey box saying "[Deleted video]". The worst part? The platform doesn't tell you what the title of the video was!
The Wayback Machine Trick
Every video has a unique 11-character ID in the URL (e.g., `?v=dQw4w9WgXcQ`).
1. Click the deleted video to get its URL.
2. Go to the Internet Archive Wayback Machine.
3. Paste the URL into their search bar.
4. If the page was archived before deletion, you'll see the title and creator!
The Google Search Trick
Sometimes simply Googling the 11-character ID in quotes (e.g., `"dQw4w9WgXcQ"`) will pull up old forum posts, Reddit threads, or Twitter links where people shared the video, revealing its title.
Prevention is Better Than Cure
The best way to prevent losing your data is to export it. Use a playlist extraction tool to download your entire collection to a CSV file. If a video ever gets deleted, you have a hard copy spreadsheet containing every single title and channel name!
